Writing for Impact: Academic Researchers

Writing for Impact: Academic ResearchersAcademics of all disciplines need more than ever to be able to communicate with impact to audiences of many different kinds. The imperative is to make a case or tell a story in a direct and compelling way, without sacrificing academic integrity.

Writing for Impact is a one-day workshop addressing the challenges that you may face when you have to describe your work and its benefits succinctly. This may be to fellow academics of other disciplines or to wider audiences such as funding bodies, policy-makers or the media.

The workshops take place in easily accessible and congenial locations throughout the UK. Please see further details in the dates and locations section below.

Writing for Impact will give you the tools to write in a direct and powerful way when your audience demands it. We will help you to demonstrate and summarise the impact and relevance of your research to key audiences. During this hands-on, practical day, you will look at how to:

  • Distil ideas and information
  • Bring fresh energy to language
  • Pitch for different audiences
  • Find new ways to talk about your subject
  • Make powerful human connections

Writing for Impact will help you highlight the importance of your work in a way that facilitates your audiences’ decision-making processes, and so enhances the reputation of your own institution.
